According to news, the Liga MX match between Atlas and Queretaro was suspended after multiple fights broke out in the stands. There are reports which suggested that when the fights between the supporters of the rival teams were broken out during the 63rd minute of the match, fans were stirred up, and they sprinted onto the field to avoid fights. After the fights were broken out and the fans started running towards the field to seek safety, referee Fernando Guerrero stopped the game with the score at 1-0 in favor of visitors Atlas.
Guerrero halted the games initially in hopes the situation would be under control, but the violence continued to spread over the stadium. Let us tell you that the 1986 FIFA World Cup was hosted in the Estadio Corregidora stadium in Mexico.
Several pictures and videos of the fan brawl at the Liga MX game have been being shared on social media platforms. It seems on the video how the supporters of rival teams beaten and dragged each other, while the other fans are seemed to be left lying on the ground, covered in blood, in the seating area of the stadium in the central city of Queretaro.
One of our news sources revealed that Liga MX president Mikel Arriola also confirmed that Liga MX matches would not be played for the weekend. Apart from that, Arriola also gave his statement regarding the violence that occurred in the pitch of the Estadio Corregidora; he called the violence “inadmissible, and also he vowed that ‘’exemplary punishments” would be given for responsible people.
Some news sources also revealed that the state of Queretaro’s Civil Protection Coordination stated that 22 people were injured in the violence, and 9 of them were badly injured and were taken to the hospital. It has also been reported that two among them are in critical condition.
