WHO Chief says pandemic will come to an end if the World chooses it Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director General of the World Health Organisation (WHO) said that the pandemic will vanish if all the countries will begin utilising the health tools effectively.
On Sunday, Dr. Tedros said that it is in our hands to end the pandemic. He said that we are having all the required public as well as medical tools, but the tools haven’t been utilised well enough.
Along with this, the WHO Chief called on G20 countries to actively engage themselves in the COVAX Mechanism that have already vaccinated 40 per cent of their population.
On Sunday, UN secretary General named Antonio Guterres called on the G20 countries to aid in collecting USD 8 Billion, so that fair distribution of Covid-19 vaccines can take place around the World.
In Berlin, Guterres spoke on the World Health Summit. He said that he joined the WHO Chief in order to roll out a global strategy for vaccinations of Covid-19. The strategy suggested a credible as well as cost-effective plan to deliver vaccines to 40 percent of the population in every country by the end of the year 2021 and 70 percent by the end of the year 2022.
A data was published on Monday by the Worldmeters website. 244,427, 410 cases have been recorded till now around the World so far. The data also displayed that 4,963,752 people have succumbed to Covid-19. The number of recoveries is 221,451,949 so far.
